‘Another World’ is an amalgamation of my experiences with neurodivergence. Through exploring abstraction and hellish imagery, I allow audiences to gaze upon the complexities that come with existing as a neurodivergent woman in a predominantly neurotypical society.

Utilising imagery of dolls as well as self-made characters (The alter-ego and The Seraph) act as a vehicle for self-exploration. The abstract scenery in which these characters reside becomes a distorted representation of the inner turmoil of my mind. Through the use of a dartboard, the alter-ego is being confronted and exposed to a disabling existence at the hands of The Seraph, the embodiment of Lucia's neurodivergence.

When playing with the darts, audiences are confronted with failiure. The game is rigged. I set you up. The target can be hit, but the weight of The Seraph causes the dart to fall. The process of failiure is something I find many disabled people experience, simply because many aspects about life are unaccomodating. There's a saying I've heard often from autistic individuals- that allistics and neurotypicals are given a playbook to life, whilst we are left in the dark, expected to play by their rules and norms without knowing what they are. With my dartboard, there's no point counting, there's no way of winning. You can damage the target, and whilst my alter-ego and the hellscape can be injured, audiences still fail.
